Tendwa is a SaaS platform operated by MI INNOVATIONS LLC for tire shops and automotive repair businesses.
Repair shops using Tendwa may send customers transactional SMS messages regarding vehicle service. These messages are sent by the repair shop that is servicing the customer’s vehicle, using Tendwa as the messaging platform.
This page is documentation of how that consent works. It is not a signup page, and no consent is collected here.
Message types
These messages may include:
- Appointment confirmations and reminders
- Estimate availability notifications
- Estimate approval requests
- Vehicle repair-status updates
- Vehicle-ready notifications
- Invoice and receipt notifications
- Payment confirmations
- Customer-support responses
- Service-related follow-up messages
Messages sent through Tendwa are transactional only. Tendwa is not used to send marketing, promotions, coupons, discounts, or unrelated advertising by SMS.
How consent is obtained
Customers of a repair shop do not create a Tendwa account. Customers provide their mobile phone number directly to the repair shop, by telephone or in person.
Before SMS notifications are enabled, the repair shop obtains the customer’s consent to receive service-related SMS messages. The repair shop records that consent inside Tendwa before enabling SMS messaging.
Providing a phone number alone does not enable messaging. Consent must be given and recorded first, and existing customers are not automatically opted in.
There are two approved methods. Confirmation by SMS reply is the recommended method.
Method 1 — Confirmation by SMS reply (double opt-in)
The employee first asks permission to send a single message, and records that permission under version SMS-ENROLLMENT-REQUEST-V1. Tendwa then sends one enrollment message, where [Shop Name] is the name of the repair shop servicing the vehicle:
“[Shop Name] powered by Tendwa would like to send you service-related SMS updates, including appointments, estimates, repair status, invoices, payments, and customer support. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply YES to subscribe, HELP for help, or STOP to decline.”
Consent exists only once the customer replies YES, and is recorded against that exact number under version SMS-REPLY-CONSENT-V1. No service message is sent before that reply. If the customer never replies, no service messages are ever sent.
Method 2 — Recorded verbal consent
The repair-shop employee asks the customer for permission using the following disclosure, read aloud word for word:
“Would you like to receive recurring service-related text messages from [Shop Name] powered by Tendwa? These messages may include appointment reminders, estimate updates, vehicle repair-status updates, invoices, payment confirmations, and customer-support messages. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. You may reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe or HELP for assistance.”
Disclosure version:
SMS-VERBAL-CONSENT-V1
The employee must receive a clear affirmative response from the customer before recording consent. Silence, a preselected option, or merely providing a phone number does not constitute consent.
What is recorded
When the customer agrees, the repair shop records the following in Tendwa:
- Customer name.
- Mobile phone number.
- Consent status.
- The method of consent — SMS reply confirmation, or verbal in person or by telephone.
- The date and time consent was given, in UTC.
- The employee who collected the permission or recorded the consent.
- The version of the consent disclosure used.
- On the reply path, the confirmation keyword the customer sent.
SMS messaging remains disabled for a customer unless a consent record exists. Customers may decline SMS messaging and still receive automotive service — consent is optional and is never a condition of any repair, purchase, or service.
Customer rights
Customers may:
- Reply STOP to unsubscribe. Tendwa also honors STOP, STOPALL, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, and QUIT. Opt-out takes effect within minutes and is confirmed with a single final message.
- Reply HELP or INFO for assistance, or contact the repair shop directly.
START and UNSTOP are carrier resubscribe keywords. They clear a carrier-level block but do not restore consent in Tendwa: to resume messages, confirm enrolment with the shop again. A customer who has opted out is not sent further enrollment invitations.
Message frequency varies, based on the customer’s appointments, estimates, repair activity, and service requests. Message and data rates may apply, depending on the customer’s mobile plan and carrier. Tendwa does not charge customers for SMS, and carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Privacy
Mobile phone numbers, SMS consent records, and opt-in information are not sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Service providers may process this information only as necessary to operate the Tendwa messaging service.
